Meet Rosalind
Rosalind Nugent is a voice, text and accent coach, who has worked extensively in the creative arts
training sectors and as a legal practitioner for more than 30 years.
She is a the only vocal coach in Australia to hold both certification as a Designated Linklater Teacher (DLT) and a Patsy Rodenburg Associate (PRA).

She received an Order of Australia Medal in 2021 for services to law and the performing arts.

Rosalind has always been fascinated by voice, and as a life-long-learner has completed additional professional developments and workshops with Lessac Voice, Knight-Thompson Speechwork (phonetics, accents), Barbara Housemann, Bill Pepper, Betty Williams, Dianne Eden, Rob Pensalfini, Christina Koch, Natalia Antonieff and Robert Price. She has undertaken acting masterclass training with Andrea Moor in Practical Aesthetics, Scott Williams and Rob Horton in Meisner, acting technique with Jeff Seymour, and acting for camera with Christopher Sommers.

She has led the voice program at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) since 2016 and Southbank TAFE (now in partnership with the University of Canberra) since 2007. Rosalind also taught voice within the NIDA Young Actors Program for a number of years, and is a sessional academic with the Australian Performing Arts Conservatory.

In addition to her work with actors and creatives, Rosalind has coached a wide array of individuals, including police cadets, law students, primary and high school students and teachers, and legal professionals.
Previous theatrical productions Rosalind has worked on as voice, text, or dialect coach include Capricorn (La Boite) and The Wolves (Ad Astra). She has worked alongside renowned directors including Daniel Evans (now Artistic Director of Queensland Theatre) on Incognito, Timothy Wynn on Blood Wedding, Matt Scholten on The Dark Room, Mad Forest with Andrea Moor, and Orpheus Descending and Blood Wedding for Anatoly Frusin.
In addition to her vocal coaching/teaching work, Ros has worked as a solicitor in the social justice sector for over 30 years and was the joint winner of the WLAQ 2012 Woman Lawyer of the Year award. She has a particular passion for two key areas of law: non-profit governance, and laws pertaining to the rights of older people, especially laws governing elder abuse. She completed the Bar Practice Course in 2005, and early in her career often acted as a solicitor-advocate. She recently completed a one-year secondment as the 2024 Practitioner in Residence at the University of Queensland’s Pro Bono Centre. Her work in the social justice sector working in law reform and delivering a wide variety of preventative legal education activities, from the laws governing protestors' legal rights to the laws affecting residents of retirement villages, has made Ros acutely aware of how important it is for individuals to be able to advocate for their rights.
Ros is also a qualified Hatha Yoga teacher (IYTA) and loves to embed relaxation and breathing techniques into her vocal training classes. She is also a qualified teacher registered with the Queensland College of Teachers.
